CYS Christmas Outreach
Each year St. Peter's asks Children and Youth Services for the names of needy families for which we might provide gifts and food baskets at Christmas.  The list of families and their needs are usually posted at the back of the church by late November.  You may sign up to provide gifts for an individual or an entire family.  If you prefer not to shop for gifts, but would still like to participate, you can make a cash donation towards the CYS Christmas Outreach and our youth will go shopping for you.  Make checks payable to 'St. Peter's Church' and note that it is for the 'CYS Outreach.'

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is only one of the many projects run by Samaritan's Purse, a non-denominational evangelical Christian organization which has provided spiritual and physical help to hurting people around the world since 1970. They serve worldwide to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  OCC touches the lives of literally millions of children throughout the world who have never had a simple Christmas gift, nor heard the word of our Lord Jesus Christ. At this time of year, people everywhere, individually and with friends, gather together simple gifts like toys and school supplies, and pack them into shoeboxes to send these children. The boxes are then sent around the world to children who are overjoyed at the simple gifts, and often come to Christ through the literature that OCC packs into the boxes.

Since at least 2004, St. Peter’s Church has taken an active part in donating shoeboxes to children through Operation Christmas Child. This year, we plan to do something different to give everyone in the parish an opportunity to join together in the project. Beginning in August, there will be a collection box placed in the back of the church, with a new theme each month on the type of items we will be collecting. Families and individuals are encouraged to bring in items for the box each month, and then in November we will gather together for a meal and a “Shoebox Packing Party” at the Parish House (date and time to be announced later). The shoeboxes will be blessed at the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday, November 11, and delivered later that week to the local collection point.

Please join in the fun!  You may never know what impact you make on a child’s life with your small gift, but the life of the child who receives it will be enriched much beyond the value of any toy packed inside.
